If something happened to Mom or Dad tonight, could you get into anything?

Your parent’s digital handoff, set up for you: every account catalogued, every legacy-access setting configured, one printed directory of where everything lives

Not the will — the phone. The email. The photos. The bank alerts, the subscriptions quietly renewing, the accounts nobody else can name. Next Hands sets up your parent’s digital handoff for you: every account catalogued, every legacy-access setting configured, one printed directory of where everything lives — without us ever seeing a single password.

The problem, plainly

The best-known tools in this space hand your family homework: organizer kits for $129–$269, vault software for $75–$189 a year — every one of them empty until somebody fills it in — and that step is the whole job. And a will, however good, doesn’t cover a phone: the settings that decide who can be let in live inside Apple, Google, and Facebook accounts, and unlike a will, nobody ever prompts you to set them.

The rule that runs this whole service

We will never ask for, see, or store your parent’s passwords — not the master password, not a two-factor code, not a recovery key — including the access key Apple generates for a Legacy Contact; that key belongs to the person your parent names, never to us. Ever. Your parent enters every secret on their own device. We work from step-by-step packets and screenshots that contain no secrets, and we verify that the settings are right. If a password ever lands in our inbox by mistake, it’s deleted on sight and we’ll tell you to change it.

How it works

  1. You buy the tier that fits.

After checkout, you email us the basics: your parent’s name, which devices they use (iPhone/Android, Gmail/other), and who should be named as their legacy contacts. No passwords — that’s the rule from the very first email.

  2. We send the setup packets.

Short, plain-English, step-by-step guides sized for a non-technical parent — or for you, sitting beside them. Each packet covers one setting: Apple Legacy Contact, Google Inactive Account Manager, Facebook Legacy Contact, and a password manager set up so the family keeps the keys.

  3. They tap; you screenshot; we verify.

Your parent makes the changes on their own device and sends back screenshots of the confirmation screens (no secrets appear on them — if one ever would, the packet says skip and tell us). We check every setting is actually on, and chase what’s missing, gently, by email.

  4. We build the directory.

Every account catalogued — what it is, where it lives, who can get in and how — plus the subscription and autopay list (Full Handoff and up), and the photo-backup check. Delivered as a PDF and a printed, bound Digital Life Directory.

  5. It stays current.

Full Handoff includes one refresh within 12 months; Family Vault includes a refresh each year for two years. A refresh = we re-verify the settings by screenshot, update the inventory, and send an updated PDF (a reprinted directory is $29 plus shipping).

Timing, exactly:
the setup runs at your family’s pace — the packets are short sittings, most take minutes, sized to be finishable in a few weeks of small steps — and you have 12 months from purchase.
Our clock: the finished directory (PDF) is delivered within 10 business days of completed verification — every screenshot in and every setting confirmed.
You review the PDF; the printed copy mails once you confirm it, or after 5 business days with no reply (so a gift is never held hostage by an inbox).
Errors you flag before mailing are fixed free.
Mailing itself typically takes 5–7 business days, and we’ll tell you the ship date when it goes out.

If an inventory runs past your tier’s account cap, we’ll show you the full list first: you can trim it to the cap, or have the extra accounts catalogued at $3 each — invoiced only with your written approval, never silently. The printed directory ships free to one US address; additional addresses or non-US delivery are quoted at cost before mailing.

For Christmas

For a printed directory under the tree, the setup needs to be complete by November 24. That date is the real math — the 10-business-day directory clock, the confirmation window, printing, and mail — because December mail is December mail. The work itself is paced in short email steps a parent can actually do. It is still a cutoff, not a guarantee: printing and mail are handled by third parties.

Founding cohort

We’re new, and each handoff gets one dedicated organizer’s full attention — so the first cohort is capped at 10 handoffs total, with at most 4 in progress at once (the queue runs in the order setups are completed). When those 10 are spoken for, this page will say so and open a waitlist instead of taking orders we can’t do well. No countdown, no pressure — just the real number.

Honest answers

Do you ever need my parent’s passwords?

No — never, in any form, at any step. That’s the design, not a policy we’ll bend. Anyone who asks for them “for” this service isn’t us.

My parent is not technical. At all.

The packets are written for exactly that parent: one setting per packet, big steps, no jargon, and you can sit beside them and do the tapping with them if that’s easier. Everything runs by email — no video calls, no software for them to install beyond the password manager the packet walks through.

Is this legal advice or an estate plan?

No. We configure platform settings and organize information. Wills, powers of attorney, and legal access questions belong to your family’s attorney — this service sits beside that work, not instead of it.

What if my parent passes away during the setup?

We pause everything. The settings they already completed stay exactly as they set them — that work stands. For the portion not yet started, you choose: a refund of the unstarted portion in full, or transfer it to another family member. The directory is finished with everything that was verified, clearly marked.

What if my parent has already passed away?

Then this service can’t do its job — legacy settings can only be set by the account holder while they’re alive and able. If you ordered for a parent who has died, tell us and we’ll refund in full; your route is the platforms’ memorial processes and your attorney, and we’ll point you to the right starting pages for free.

What if my parent refuses part of it?

It happens — it’s their digital life. We complete everything they’ll allow, mark the rest clearly in the directory as “declined by account holder,” and if they decline the whole setup before we begin, you get a full refund.

What are the refund terms?

Full refund any time before the first setup packet is sent (including the case above). 50% after packets are sent, before verification is complete. After the directory PDF is delivered, the work is done and made to order — but if we made an error in it, we fix and re-send it free, and a misprinted directory is always reprinted free.

Who sees the inventory and screenshots?

Only the organizer assigned to your family. We delete our working files — intake, screenshots, drafts — 90 days after delivery. Your directory (PDF and printed) is your copy; the inventory lives with you, not on our servers.

What if we don’t finish?

You have 12 months. Gentle reminders, never nagging. If the 12 months run out unfinished, you choose one: a one-time extension, transferring the handoff to another parent or family member, or a 50% credit.

How do we start after checkout?

Email the basics listed in step 1 to chiticohq+nexthands@zohomail.com. Your first setup packet arrives within one business day.
